Where did you grow up?
My hometown is in Northeast Ohio but I moved to Kalamazoo when I was in grade school and spent most of my childhood growing up there. I moved to West Michigan after college and having been loving life on the Lakeshore ever since!
Where did you go to school? What made you choose your major?
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2014 — go green! I got my degree in Communication and specialized in Public Relations. I actually went into MSU as a Journalism major because of my role as Editor In Chief of the high school newspaper. My guidance counselor talked me into switching my major to Public Relations at my orientation after talking to me about my interests and passions. I decided to try out a few PR courses my Freshman year and the rest is history! While I'm not in a traditional PR role anymore, it definitely paved the way for my transition into Digital Marketing.
What was your first job?
Professionally speaking, my first post-college job was as a Public Relations Associate at a local PR firm in the Grand Rapids area. It was my first and last job in PR before transitioning into Digital Marketing. Prior to my first job I did six internships during college and moved to Chicago for a summer to complete a post-grad PR internship with Weber Shandwick.
What are your weekend hobbies?
When I'm not in the office I spend my time doing anything that gets my outside and keeps me active! My husband and I live just a few miles from Lake Michigan so we spend a lot of time hiking, biking, kayaking and (attempting to) golf.
What's your biggest adventure in life so far?
I've been fortunate enough to travel to some pretty magical places (hello Hawaii) and try some exciting new things (zip lining 1,200 feet over the Arkansas River), but I have to say my favorite adventure so far has been marrying my best friend and starting our life together.
What's your favorite movie?
I'm not really a big movie buff, but I love anything starring Julia Roberts or Jennifer Aniston.
